Leading the Better Streets, Safer City Program

Poe & Associates is acting as full service Project Management and Construction Management for Arterial and Residential Street Resurfacing as part of the Better Streets, Safer City Sales Tax Program. The duties being performed by Poe & Associates staff as part of this program are as follows:

  • To act as the main point of contact for the City of Oklahoma City for both Contractors and Citizens. This means providing direction to Contractors, preparing and approving daily inspection reports using the OKC Inspection System, final review of construction and preparation of punch list items and managing communications with the public related to our projects, all while managing limited budgets for each project. Work performed is inspected to ensure all OKC standards and Specifications are upheld
  • To aid in the assessment of existing street pavement conditions, confirming the accuracy of the City’s in-house Pavement Condition Index system. This is a major criterion used to rank the streets needing resurfacing works. We have provided some supplementation to this system by doing our own assessments, using the experience in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa offices.
  • To help develop and monitor the City’s Unit Price Contracts, and analyze the accuracy of the bids to ensure value and quality for the City. With these unit price contracts, we aid the City in preparing estimates for each of the Sales Tax-funded resurfacing projects including mill/overlay or reconstruction of both asphalt and PC concrete pavements, curb & gutter repair and inlet adjustment, ADA compliance and sidewalk upgrades, driveway repair and Embark Bus Pad installation concrete panel replacement, crack and joint sealing, traffic signal upgrades (to radar which is preferred by the City) and striping, adjustment/relocation of conflicting utilities, and to recommend value engineering alternatives (such as pavement reinforcement grid or recycling of materials into the subgrade, etc.).
