I-35 / Lindsey Street Interchange (SPUI)

I-35 / Lindsey Street Interchange (SPUI)

Norman, Oklahoma

Poe & Associates was selected by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to complete final construction plans for the reconstruction of the I-35 Interchange at Lindsey Street in Norman. Lindsey Street is the main corridor from I-35 to the University of Oklahoma. Also included in the project was approximately 0.6 miles of reconstruction and widening of I-35 to six lanes through the interchange area. The new interchange was configured into a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI), one of the first of its kind in Oklahoma. The new design featured longer on and off ramps, allowing large volumes of traffic to negotiate the area by using a single set of traffic signals on top of the Lindsey Street bridge; as opposed to standard interchanges of this general type that require two sets of signals.

Construction Cost – $35 million
Completion – 2017
